Springfield Shakespeare Project announces Production Dates and Tickets Now on Sale to “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare

SPRINGFIELD, MO., – The Skinny Improv in association with The Springfield Shakespeare Project announces tickets now on sale for “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, directed by Jeff Jenkins. The play will be performed at The Gallery at National Avenue, 1515 National Avenue Thursday- Saturday nights at 7:30 PM September 16- October 2, 2010.

Hamlet has been called “the greatest play in the history of English” and been produced and performed numerous times.

Springfield Shakespeare Project founder and director of “Hamlet” Jeff Jenkins is excited about the production being performed in Springfield. When asked what made this production unique, Jenkins responded “We are really working to focus on the text and power of the words. There will be minimal costumes and set. Everything will be stripped down and we’re working to lose the distraction of what surrounds Shakespeare and make the power of the words and relationships accessible to contemporary audiences.”

With minimal amount of seating being made available, audiences will feel close to what is being done on stage.

“We really want to include the audience in the unfolding of these characters lives by having them as close to the action as possible” said Ran Cummings, a local actor who is playing the title role.

Tickets will be general admission and only $10 a seat and also only 50 seats will be available for every show.

The Gallery at National Avenue is a part of the campus of National Avenue Christian Church and is located at 1515 National Avenue in Springfield, MO

Doors open at 7pm and performances begin at 7:30pm.
