The Springfield Playhouse; An Interactive Theatre for Children

The Springfield Playhouse is an interactive theatre experience for children that helps children unleash the power of their imagination. Kids are used in the process of the production through interaction with the actors, designing and decorating the actual set used during the production, and they also help cheer on the actors with noises and responses.

The Springfield Playhouse is an interactive theatre experience for children. The children are involved in several aspects of the actual production. They are used during the play as props, set pieces, they cheer the hero and boo the villian. They make noises, and this season they will be helping design and decorate the set. The Springfield Regional Arts Council will be working with The Springfield Playhouse and The Skinny Improv  to help the kids decorate and add their own designs to the backdrop used for the play. We will have an outline of the backdrop and the kids can add whatever they think and want to make the backdrop complete. The costumes used for the production are purposely designed to look like something the kids might find in their parents' closet. We encourage the parents to recreate the kids favorite scenes when they get home by using their own costumes and props they can find in thier own homes. On the program we include the basic outline and story scense so it wil be easier for the kids to recreate the play with their parents. We also encourage parents to send in pictures of the kids in costumes so we can decorate a wall at The Skinny Improv Comedy Theatre.

The Adventrous Adventure of The Three Little Pigs by Jeff Jenkins

The Big Bad Wolf is on the prowl and looking to take down the Pigg brothers and their newly constructed homes. The Pigg brothers are out on their own and looking to make their place in the world. The Big Bad Wolf would love to crash their party and homes. By learning to depend on each other rather than trying to make it on their own The Three Piggs can hopefully protect themselves and their family.

The Springfield Playhouse encourages children to participate in the play. They sometimes appear on stage with the actors or the actors will appear in the audience with the children. Children are also encouraged to show up 30 mins before the show and help decorate the set in thanks to the Springfield Regional Arts Council.

This hysterical adaptation by Jeff Jenkins will be presented March 8, 15 at 12:00 and 2:30 pm and January 9, 16 at 2:30.Tickets are only $5.
